Let's be honest, it's not just clothes that languish unworn and unloved at the back of our cupboards. If you're anything like me you'll have beauty products aplenty cluttering up your drawers and bathroom shelves. In fact, an impromptu survey of my dressing table has just revealed two home hair dye kits and seven - yes SEVEN - green eyeshadows. It seems that six were not enough to persuade me that green is really not my colour.
Now you can assuage your guilt at all that wasted money and help women fleeing domestic violence at the same time by donating your unwanted products to charity.
My Swish will be collecting items at our next Big Swish at Lansdowne Place Hotel on Sunday 16th September from 3pm. You'll receive swish points for unused (or very lightly used) make up and toiletries, which will be donated to the Give and Make Up charity.
Give and Make Up distribute everyday essentials from shampoo to deodorant, toothbrushes, make up and baby products to women and children who really need day-to-day toiletries and a little luxury in their lives. Give and Make Up even say that hair dye like mine can be put to vital use by women who need to disguise their appearance.
Sadly, one woman in four will experience domestic violence at some point in her lifetime and two women are killed by a current or ex-partner every week. Why not make a small but important difference to women’s lives by donating your unloved beauty products on 16th September?
You can find out more about what Give and Make Up do and exactly what they need on their website.
