Grayson Perry?

I nabbed this gorgeous dress at one of our monthy swishes at the Blind Tiger and thought it would look spendid on me.  How wrong I was.  I actually look like Grayson Perry's alter ego Claire which as you can see below is seriously not a good look.  Actually I look like an older more middle aged and frumpy version of Claire.

Here is the dress which will be included in this Sunday's swish - 20 points - and below is Grayson in his frock.

Kudos to Mario Testino

Who knew that photographing shoes to make them look attractive could be so tricky? I am guessing it is easier for Le Testino, the shoes he photographs usually being at the end of some well toned super model leg.  Anywho... these are some gorgeous shoes that will be up for swishing on Sunday.  The Hobbs ones I got from a wonderful woman at a private swish even though they were not my size. I was hoping to force in my foot a la the ugly sisters.  The Yoma beauties, the corally, reddish ones, are just too divine but my size 6 trotters just seemed to be a tad to wide for them.  It's just too bad.

So 20 swish points each pair.  I hope they go to good homes to someone with slim feet.

You will noticed I have artfully placed the Yoma beauties with my beautiful pots as a background. Creative non?

Ways to wear: skirts and blouses

Hello again swishettes, and welcome to the fourth day of our big closet clearout, giving you a special preview of some of the items that the My Swish team will be bringing to the Big Swish at Lansdowne Place on Sunday.

The dress seems to have dominated our wardrobes for so long now that the return of the skirt and blouse combo suddenly looks surprisingly fresh. We thought we'd give you a selection today, including this vintage-glam combination of metallic gold blouse by Laura for Topshop with a navy and stone patterned skirt (above).

We love the skirt-blouse look because it's ladylike, easy to wear and makes you feel instantly 'done'. Its also perfect in terms of weight and layerability to carry you through from late summer to autumn. Go for the silk-collared Topshop top above for a casual look...

...or this silk River Island blouse with mismatched vintage buttons, cinched in with a wide waist-belt for a touch of 50s charm.

Fed up of pattern? Try this box-pleated navy skirt by Kew, paired with a turquoise-and-white striped blouse by Zara.

So there you have it. The skirt and blouse: your trans-seasonal wardrobe sorted by My Swish.

Silence and Noise

This divine dusky pink Silence and Noise cocktail dress, size L, never worn, could be yours for a mere 20 points at this Sunday's swish at the Lansdowne Place Hotel and Spa in Hove.

Bought with ACTUAL MONEY that is, not a previously swished item, this dress despite its gorgeousness did me no favours at all.  I blame the recent inhalation of danish pastry products - damn those chocolate croissants and custard creams.  I love custard creams.

One lucky person can have this dress hanging in their wardrobe for a mere 20 points after this Sunday's swish.

Oh the joy that is swishing.  What are you going to bring?

Big Swish preview II

Hello again swishettes. Today we have another sneak preview of choice pieces from Sunday's upcoming swish.

Can we interest anyone in a designer classic? This Chloe black twill skater skirt manages to be both timeless and incredibly now both at the same time. One lucky swishette will be able to take it home for just 50 points!

Fancy something a bit more sparkly? Maybe it's just me, but I reckon this wrap dress by Kate Moss for Topshop has something of the Wonderwoman about it... Whether you're a supermodel or a superheroine, it could be yours for just 20 points.

Looking for something to inject some wow factor into your autumn work wardrobe? This 80s inspired dress by New Look could be just the thing for a mere 10 swish points. We'd style it up with ankle boots and an oversized silk scarf for maximum impact.

Finally we have a piece that's now become an essential classic in all our weekend wardrobes: the coloured jean. And now that red is one of the new neutrals, this pair by Gok Wan couldn't be easier to wear. Why not team with a breton top and penny loafers for effortless preppy-Parisian chic?

We'll have more to share with you over the next few days as our great wardrobe clear-outs continue. Stay tuned...

The Big Swish preview

We're getting super-excited here at My Swish Towers in anticipation of the Big Swish at Lansdowne Place this weekend.  So to whet your appetites and get you in the mood for swishing, we thought we'd give you a little taste of some of the goodies you can expect .

Why not tap into this season's quintessentially British look with a vintage tweed jacket and green suede skirt and get spot on trend for Autumn?

Or how about this striking Next trouser suit? Team with a felt fedora and oversized sunglasses et voila, you're channelling Bianca Jagger.

Alternatively, how about this monochrome tea dress and gold-coin necklace? Perfect for floating about in during the last days of summer, then remix with opaque tights, boots and a belted cardi for autumn.

We'll keep you updated with more finds as the week goes on. In the meantime, we'd love you to tell us what you'll be bringing to swish on Sunday.
